A high speed camera is a device used for recording slow-motion, mainly for scientific studies or for filming of very fast activities like sports or running liquids. There are three different types of high speed cameras: analogue, electronic and digital.
A normal motion picture is filmed and played back at 24 frames per second, while television uses 25 frames/s (PAL) or 29.97 frames/s (NTSC). High speed cameras can film up to thousands of frames per second. Using this technique you are able to stretch one second realtime to several of playback time.
